| The following are highlights from this week's Pre-Commission and Commission meetings. You can watch the meetings on our livestream archive here.
Today, during the County Commission meeting, commissioners held public hearings on zoning cases (with no opposition) and approved 24 resolutions, with none pulled for separate consideration. Of note are the following: - A resolution for storm debris removal for residents in unincorporated Jefferson County as a result of the storms and tornadoes in the northern part of the County on November 25th. The Department of Roads and Transportation will pick up and dispose of debris through Dec. 18th. Residents can place a request in the MyJeffCo app or call Roads and Trans at 205-325-5141.
- Jefferson County to allocate Economic Development funds to Innovation Depot in support of its mission to cultivate entrepreneurship, accelerate business growth, and expand workforce-development capacity. Funding will enable the Innovation Depot to deliver programs, technical assistance, and innovation-focused services aligned with the County’s economic-development strategy, strengthening job creation, talent development, and regional competitiveness in the amount of $400,000.
- Economic development funds to utilize resources of the Birmingham Business Alliance as they support Jefferson County's economic development, public policy and strong workforce development in the amount of $400,000.
Opioid Settlement Fund Grants to the following: - City of Adamsville - to the Adamsville Police Dept. for $8,579.20
- HOV Foundation (Our House 501c3) for $15,000.
Commissioners approved the following district fund grants: District 1: (Commissioner Lashunda Scales) Community Grants for the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama District 1 Holiday Food Box Distribution in the amount of $7,546. District 5: (Commissioner Mike Bolin) A Community Grant Program Agreement with Sav-A-Life, Inc., d/b/a Alabama Pregnancy Test Center in the amount of $10,000. |
