Compliance Week Day 5

Day 5: The Strongman Challenge
The Strongman Challenge: Strength in Integrity

At the Compliance Carnival, it's not just about physical strength—it's about the strength of character and integrity. Integrity and accountability are essential to building public trust and ensuring our decisions serve the community responsibly.

In The Strongman Challenge, you'll test your muscles and your moral fiber. Every swing of the hammer represents a commitment to honesty, transparency, and ethical decision-making. Do you have the strength to hit the bell? More importantly, do you have the strength of integrity to uphold compliance values in your everyday actions? Step up and show us how strong you really are!

For this next activity, solve challenging ethical scenarios or role-play dilemmas involving workplace integrity. Each scenario successfully resolved earns “strength points” toward your department's score.

Activity Rules

  1. - Submit your answers below by 4pm to earn points for your department.

1. Evaluate the following actions:
Space Cell Acted with Integrity Could Have Handled Differently Did Not Act with Integrity
You notice that a coworker is struggling with their tasks and offer to help, even though it means staying late to assist.
A long-term vendor sends you a valuable gift basket for the holidays, even though policy discourages accepting gifts. You accept it, reasoning that it’s just a friendly gesture and won't influence your decisions (and the gift wasn't something you liked anyway).
You accidentally violate a policy by skipping a required process, but no one else seems to notice. You’re unsure if you need to bring it up since it was unintentional and had no consequences.
You are asked to approve a contract for a vendor that happens to be owned by a close relative. You disclose the relationship to your supervisor and ask to be removed from the decision-making process.
A close coworker accidentally gives incorrect information that affects a citizen’s decision. You choose not to correct them to avoid embarrassing them, figuring it won’t have major consequences.
A friend applies for an open position in your department, and you are part of the hiring committee. You strongly recommend them despite knowing they don’t meet all the qualifications, feeling confident you can help them improve once hired.
